BOOK A RESEARCH APPOINTMENT

Core Collection Reading Room

The Cecil B. DeMille Reading Room is designated for research activities within the Library’s Core Collection. The Core Collection encompasses the library’s central holdings for general film study. It includes books, periodicals, pamphlets, directories, clipping files, publicity and advertising materials, screenplays, trade and studio publications and oral histories. Access to library in-house and subscription databases is also available on library computers in the Core reading room.

Special Collections Reading Room

The Special Collections (Katharine Hepburn) Reading Room is reserved for research with special collections (primary source) materials, such as rare books, manuscript collections, and visual materials. Special Collections requires at minimum 7 days advance notice, so spaces within that window will appear blank and not be bookable.

BEFORE REQUESTING AN APPOINTMENT

Review the library rules, hours, and safety policies before you request an appointment.

The Margaret Herrick Library is a specialized research library devoted to motion pictures. The reference staff is available to answer questions about the library and its collections, and to assist individuals conducting motion picture-related research.

Please be aware that materials in the library do not circulate.

Only researchers with confirmed appointments will be admitted to the library.

Not sure what reading room to choose? Email ref@oscars.org.
